Frank Lyon, Jr. (1941-2015) was an Arkansas businessman, outdoorsman and conservation leader whose life reflects a deep commitment to the Natural State’s land, wildlife and sporting heritage. Widely respected for his business and civic leadership, Lyon has consistently paired professional success with hands on stewardship of Arkansas’s most treasured landscapes.

A passionate duck hunter, Lyon is the owner of Wingmead, one of the most renowned duck clubs on the Arkansas Grand Prairie. Long recognized for its habitat management and waterfowl traditions, Wingmead represents Lyon’s belief that private landownership carries both privilege and responsibility. Through careful wetland management and agricultural stewardship, the property stands as a model for balancing productive farming with thriving wildlife habitat along the Mississippi Flyway.

Lyon’s conservation commitment extends beyond the blind. He served as a Commissioner on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, helping guide policy for one of the nation’s most respected wildlife agencies. During his tenure, he supported science based management, habitat conservation and partnerships between public institutions and private landowners to ensure the long term sustainability of Arkansas’s natural resources.

Across business, philanthropy and public service, Lyon embodies a forward looking conservation ethic, honoring Arkansas’s storied duck hunting legacy while investing in its future. His influence continues to shape both the landscape of the Grand Prairie and the broader conservation community, helping ensure these traditions endure for generations to come
