Representing outdoor education, George Purvis came into our homes with the Arkansas Outdoors television program each week. He shared images and experiences of fishing and hunting and the joy of being in the natural world. He brought the sensations and sounds of the outdoor world to many who did not otherwise have access. He advocated for outdoor safety by encouraging and providing hunting and fishing instruction and promoting the use of fluorescent orange protective gear. He was instrumental in getting many of the most important and inspirational photographs ever produced of wildlife in Arkansas.
